Introduction

The National Centre Remote Sensing (NCRS) is located in Jos, Jos Plateau. Our center is a member of the the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) ,under the Federal Ministry of Science and Tecnology. (FMST)

Remote sensing is technology suites, developed to obtain primary data about objects on the surface of the earth, observed from the altitude of space. The information obtained through this process is used for the assessment and management of natural resources as well as the environment.

Our permanent site has just been completed and we are working on building a national earth observation ground receiving station, partnerships between Nigerian scientists and selected foreign partners.

We have several training programs, seminars and periodic conferences in all areas of Remote Sensing. We aim to build the technical capacity and technological expertise that will enable Nigeria to develop, build and maintaing its own earth observation and communication satellites by the year 2012. This NCRC portal is one of our means of providing our stakeholders with easy access to some of our Remote Sensing programs, research, and application development work, and our contribution to the fulfilment of the National Millenium Goals for national sustainble development and growth.

We also provide information about our center, mission, and introduce you to our teams of management and the staff, responsible for the agency's achievements. We appreciate any feedback. Thank you for your visit.
