 PROJECTS  AIM/OBJECTIVE  METHODOLOGY RESULT  BENEFIT
AGRICULTURAL LANDUSE PLANNING BASED ON TERRAIN CHARACTERISTICS USING REMOTE SENSING AND GIS IN A PART OF THE LOWER BENUE RIVER FLOODPLAIN, NIGERIA  To apply Satellite Remote Sensing and GIS technologies in agricultural land use planning based on terrain characteristics in a part of the Lower River Benue floodplain Nigeria. Using data conventional methods as a way of complementing that derived from space techniques.  Image interpretation, classification and analysis on the basis of terrain parameters such as slope, soil depth and drainage pattern as well as integration of various dataset such as topographical sheets, soil, climatic, geological, SRTM Land capability and suitability analysis of the area was viewed from three different perspectives productivity, workability, sustained use of the land.   Genaration of land capability and suitability maps targeted at agricultural intensification as a way of addressing issues of food insecurity and poverty eradication for overall socio-economic national development.

PROJECTS AIM/OBJECTIVES METHODOLOGY RESULTS BENEFITS/CONCLUSION
GEOLOGICAL MAPPING OF PARTS OF JOS PLATEAU USING NIGERIASAT-1 IMAGE To demonstrate the geological application of Nigeria Sat-1 image with respect to structural geology of parts of Jos-Plateau. Image Interpretation,Lineament extraction & Analyses,Image Classification Various Lithological Units Mapped,The common orientations of lineation are NW-SE and NE-SW Nigeria Sat 1 Image is indispensable for reconnaissance geological surveys, Landform analyses, Drainage Analyses,Structural interpretations,Image classification for lithological delineation Vegetation cover analyses and Ground truthing etc.
APPLICATION OF REMOTE SENSING AND GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM TO THE STUDY OF LINEAMENTS IN PARTS OF JEMA’A SW (1:50,000, SHEET 188 Produce a detailed geological map Asses the economic mineral potential of the area, by mapping structural features such as faults and fractures that can be pathways for mineralizing fluids, using Remotes Sensing and GIS. Image Interpretation,Lineament extraction & Analyses, Image Classification,Aeromagnetic Interpretation The major structural trends of the study area are; N – S, NE – SW, NW – SE,NNW – SSE and WNW – ESE. Mineral Exploration
THE USE OF NIGERIA SAT-1 IMAGE AND GIS IN MAPPING KIGOM MOLYBDENITE DEPOSIT IN NORTH CENTRAL NIGERIA. Process satellite data to enhance/bring out structures that are probable hosts for mineralization and also map sub-regional surface geology. Interpretation of the aeromagnetic data.Compare geological maps with interpreted aeromagnetic maps. Create maps combining multiple digital maps.Create mineral potential maps with detailed views of access roads Data Processing,Data Integration Structural Map show highly Mineralized zones Mineral Exploration
GROUND WATER TARGETTING IN THE BASEMENT COMPLEX OF JOS PLATEAU The aim of this project is to generate good database (Thematic maps) on the groundwater potentials of the Basement complex of Jos-Plateau using Remote sensing and GIS Techniques. Interpretation of Landsat Image & lineament analyses. Groundwater Potential Map of the Study Area created. Groundwater exploration using Satellite Image Interpretation is cost effective
